ARANZ Geo is a division of Applied Research Associates New Zealand Limited (ARANZ), and is an established developer of 3D geological modelling solutions for the minerals mining, energy and environmental industries. ARANZ Geo specializes in providing geologists the tools to facilitate more productive geological modelling for more efficient and effective decision making.
ARANZ Geo’s modelling software enables geologists to generate models in a real 3D environment, dramatically faster than traditional geological modelling methods. The software leverages ARANZ Geo’s extensive research and experience in developing geological modelling algorithms for scattered data and surface interpolation, and their capabilities in sophisticated 3D visualisation.
Structure & History
Parent company ARANZ (www.aranz.com) has been developing and commercializing innovative technology based solutions across a wide range of industries since 1995, and has customers in more than 30 countries on all continents worldwide.
The ARANZ group of companies has the vision of developing technology based solutions to solve customers’ problems in differing application areas. The group currently employs staff with high level skills in mathematics, engineering (including software and hardware), manufacturing and business. ARANZ recruits talented and creative individuals with a mix of technical excellence and focus on developing innovative customer-focused solutions. Qualifications held by the staff include 11 PhDs and 1 MB ChB (MD equivalent).
To date, the group has demonstrated technical and commercial success across a diverse range of application areas, including: 3D modelling, data collection for movie making special effects, custom orthotics and prosthetics, and geological data interpretation.
Success stories include:
- One of ARANZ’s first customers, Weta Digital, who used our technology to bring to life animated characters in movie block busters such as The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
- The ARANZ developed Hanger Insignia system which is installed in hundreds of clinics in the United States for custom fitting prostheses to amputees, and orthotics.
- ARANZ Medical Limited is a healthcare innovation company that provides technology-based solutions to improve health care. The primary product Silhouette is a leading wound assessment and management system, actively used in more than 19 countries.
- ARANZ Geo Limited's flagship product, Leapfrog Mining was developed specifically for the minerals mining industry and released to market in 2004, providing exploration and mine geologists with the ability to rapidly generate 3D models directly from drillhole data within a matter of hours as opposed to days.
- Another ARANZ Geo product, Leapfrog Hydro was released in 2009, providing an integrated 3D software solution for hydrogeological modelling. 3D models of the Central Plains, Canterbury, New Zealand and of Florida's hydrogeology have been developed using Leapfrog Hydro in collaboration with Environment Canterbury and the USGS respectively.
- In 2010, ARANZ Geo released Leapfrog Geothermal, which is specifically developed to meet the needs of the geothermal industry. Developed in collaboration with GNS Science New Zealand, Leapfrog Geothermal has been used to facilitate more informed resource management decisions on geothermal fields in New Zealand.
Depending on the product requirements, ARANZ's commercial developments are compliant to either ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 quality standards.
